Connecting with others

Peer support for parents

Here at BTSKIDZ we know the value of talking to someone who has had a similar experience. Our community overwhelmingly reports that a brain tumour diagnosis is frightening, isolating and bewildering. Talking to someone who has already been through the same experience can help to reduce the isolation, make sense of what is happening and reduce the fear of the unknown.

We have a community of parents wanting to help others who have just heard their child has a brain tumour.
If you wish to talk to someone who understands, Get in touch via email or call (027) 292-3337 and we can arrange this for you

Facebook Private Group

Parents connect - a group of parents with children who’ve been diagnosed with a brain tumour, either recently or a longer time ago.

Our aim to provide a safe and supportive space for parents with children who’ve been diagnosed with a brain tumour. It is easy to join… you just need to go to the page and ask to join.

The group is monitored by the Brain Tumour Support NZ team, but are primarily a peer to peer forum led by the members.

Support Friends

A Support Friend is a volunteer who has experienced what it is like to care for someone living with a brain tumour. They provide one to one support.

They will be able to share their knowledge and insight, and also listen to you, to help you to get through this difficult time. This service is offered to families and whānau who have a child who’s been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The support is usually over the phone or video chat. It is led by you at your own pace and needs. Click on the link to request a Support Friend we’ll arrange this as soon as we can.

Our community Facebook and Instagram pages are also there to keep you up to date with BTSNZ’s news.
